Jimmy got sent off when he was just 18
fresh out of high school
still full of dreams
wanted to change the world
so he joined the military
got sent home a few month's later
barely enough to burry
so Jimmy may you rest in peace
for you served your time in war
maybe some day we'll figure out
just what you died for
At the funeral the mourning Mother
leaning on the arms of a younger brother
reads a letter with tears in her eyes
that Jimmy sent just before he died
said "Mom, I don't think I can take much more,
now that I've seen the true face of war"
So Jimmy may you rest in peace
for you've served your time in war
maybe someday we'll figure out
just what you died for.
Still the mother reads.
letter clenched in her hands
all Jimmy said when he
killed his first man
said "I thought I did good,
I killed the enemy, but when I looked down
he was even younger than me
and I hated myself
for what I had done
whatever reason that he died for
I hope it was a good one."
So Jimmy may you rest in peace

and maybe someday

The more I listen to this album, the better it gets. On first listen, Abi Grace's voice is mesmerizing, of course. But on each replay, deeper layers of talent draw your attention. The guitar arrangements are complex, and the harmonies, which I assume are Abi multi-track harmonizing with herself, are tight and beautiful, reminiscent of some of Simon & Garfunkel's best harmonies. Then on subsequent replays, you become aware of just how great these songs are lyrically. I'm out of room! Buy this LP!
